Has wearing a mask left you with sore skin around your nose, ears and mouth? Here we share our tips for protecting your skin when wearing a face mask.

HOW CAN A SKIN SALVE REDUCE FRICTION IRRITATION WHEN WEARING A FACE MASK?

Skin salves should always be applied prior to fixing your face mask and smoothed onto any areas the mask touches, including the nose, cheekbones and behind the ears.

CHOOSING A FACE WASH FOR FACE MASK BREAKOUTS

AVOID SKIN-DRYING ALCOHOLS

For a complexion that feels fresh and clear, opt for a face wash that contains skin-balancing plant extracts. Avoid washing the face with skin care products containing skin-drying alcohols as these can further irritate sore, dry skin.

SWITCH FROM SLS

Like some alcohols, the synthetic foaming ingredient Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) can be incredibly drying and even if your skin usually tolerates SLS, stress levels can leave skin more sensitive to irritation.
